MEPP Oral History: Benny Hayes, Vietnam War Veteran

The MEPP is very proud to present our first interview with a veteran of the Vietnam War!

Mr. Benny Hayes served with the US Air Force in Vietnam. He worked in Electronic Counter-Measures (ECM), primarily developing and maintaining aircraft-based tracking scopes designed to assist pilots in defensive maneuvering against enemy surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). He later worked at the K. I. Sawyer Strategic Air Command (SAC) Base in Michigan before returning home in 1968. Listen to his must-hear accounts of the hardships of time in-country, meeting Gen. Westmoreland, a disparaging return home, a warm family reunion, how to interact with Vietnam veterans, and much more in this emotionally gripping interview.
